November 16, 2021
As many districts in Newaygo County have already done, White Cloud Public Schools will be adjusting their Thanksgiving Holiday break by adding two additional days. White Cloud Public Schools will be closed to on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, and Monday, November 29, 2021. The State of Michigan allows schools to have 6 "Act of God", or weather days through the course of the year, and the White Cloud Board of Education has approved the use of two of these days for this period.
Factors that went into this decision were consistent staffing issues in all departments of White Cloud Public Schools from food service, transportation, and maintaining appropriate staffing at all our buildings. We are hoping that this additional day and a half off will allow our district buildings to be deep cleaned and allow our staff and students to get and remain healthy as we move toward the final stretch prior to the December holiday break. There will be no remote learning expectations for these days and encourage students to take advantage of this time to catch up on any missing work.
White Cloud Public Schools understands that this may cause an inconvenience for some families, and we wanted to get this information to you in advance to make alternate plans for Wednesday the 24th and Monday, the 29th. Students will be returning to school on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
As always, White Cloud Public Schools thanks you for the continued support as we make these very challenging decisions.
