Kickstart to Career

Kickstart to Career Newaygo County is a children's savings account program designed to build aspirations, encourage savings, increase financial education, and assist with career preparation, training, or college expenses.

A savings account will be opened in the name of each participating kindergartner enrolling in school in fall 2018 through 2027. Fremont Area Community Foundation manages the program and will make an initial deposit of $50 in each account.

Funds can be used for any qualifying career or educational expenses after high school. Examples include, but are not limited to: tuition, mandatory fees, books, supplies, equipment required for enrollment or attendance, or any other necessary costs associated with a student's career pursuits, such as tools and uniforms.

The Children's Savings Account (CSA) movement continues to spread across the United States. Currently there are 54 programs across the country--including three in Michigan--and they serve more than 380,000 children.

Kickstart to Career Newaygo County is a joint program of Fremont Area Community Foundation and ChoiceOne Bank.
