Special Education Millage Renewal
On May 2, 2017, voters in school districts served by the Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency: Big Jackson, Fremont, Grant, Hesperia, Newaygo, and White Cloud, will be asked to approve the RENEWAL of one mill for seven years.

This millage is a RENEWAL of one (1) mill that was passed in 2004 and 2010. This is NOT an increase.

The purpose of this RENEWAL is to fund educational programs and services for our individuals with disabilities.

The beneficiaries of this renewal are students with disabilities, from birth to age 26, in the school districts of Big Jackson, Fremont, Grant, Hesperia, Newaygo, and White Cloud.
The one-mill RENEWAL will be used to pay local schools for the costs of many special education programs required by law.

Without the renewal, local school districts will have to use funds from K-12 general education programs to pay for these special education services, as they are required by law.
