AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATIONAL INTERPRETER FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING—FULL TIME:
TWO (2) POSITIONS FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR:
1 Position at White Cloud Elementary
1 Position at White Cloud Junior High
HOURS: 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days in session of 2018-2019 White Cloud Public Schools calendar
DUTIES: Under general supervision, acts as the interpreter between student and teacher or other staff member. Duties include interpreting a variety of materials into American Sign Language, and may include providing some tutoring, supportive duties, and related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess the following:
- A qualified interpreter certification as defined in the Michigan Compiled Laws and known as the Deaf Persons' Interpreter Act who has been approved at EIPA Level 4.0 or above.
- Ability to interpret/transliterate in classes where deaf and hard of hearing students are mainstreamed
- Ability to understand and work with children of all ages
- Ability to serve as a role model for students
- Experience preferred
